Dr. Asmaa M. Ezzat is an Associate Professor in the Economics Department at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science (FEPS), Cairo University. She earned her Ph.D. in Economics in 2015, with joint supervision from FEPS and the Institute of Law and Economics at Hamburg University. She also holds an M.A. and B.A. in Economics from FEPS. Dr. Ezzat is the Director of the Governance Center at the National Institute of Governance and Sustainable Development and serves as an Economic Consultant for the Egyptian Competition Authority. She has worked on research and consultancy projects funded by organizations like the EU, USAID, and the Egyptian National Council for Competitiveness. An affiliate of the EU-Mediterranean and African Network for Economic Studies (EMANES), she won the 2024 State Encouragement Award for her work on the role of Egyptian institutions in the rule of law. Her research focuses on institutional economics, development, law, corruption, and econometrics.
