John Owusu-Afriyie is currently a Programme Manager at the Department of Research and Macroeconomic Management, West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM), Lagos, Nigeria. He is a staunch Ghanaian Scholar, Researcher and Economist. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with Russian Language and a Master of Philosophy degree awarded by the University of Ghana, Legon (2008 and 2012 respectively). He also studied the Craft of Scholarly Writing at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (Geneva, Switzerland). John was also awarded a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.D.) in Development Economics by the University of Ghana, in collaboration with the United Nations University. Prior to his appointment as a Programme Manager, he had been in academia for 8 years. His publication on the topic, “Effect of Chinese FDI on Economic Growth in Africa”, won him the 2018 Emerald Literati Award (Highly Commended Paper Category).
