Dr. Khaled Ibrahim Sakr is a former Assistant Director at the IMF. He used to lead missions to Ireland, Sweden, Hungary, Croatia, Yemen, Sudan, Syria, and Libya. During his 28 years at the IMF, he covered many other countries and worked at the Strategy, Policy and Review Department as well as Senior Advisor to the Dean of the IMF’s Executive Board. He authored many country and research papers at the IMF and contributes op-eds on macroeconomics and global issues. He is currently the principal at Global Strategic Insights, an independent policy advisory firm, and a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Middle East section of the Atlantic Council. Dr. Sakr holds a BSc and MSs in Economics from Cairo University, and an MPhil in the Economics and Politics of Development and a PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge.
