Tourism significantly contributes to Egypt’s economy, playing a crucial role in foreign exchange earnings, macroeconomic stability, and job creation. Despite enduring structural shifts, the sector has shown resilience, adapting strategies to address challenges such as product diversification, market expansion, and private sector investments. Facing shocks, the sector did not only survive but had improve services, achieve heightened performance. This chapter conducts a comprehensive analysis of Egypt’s tourism strategies illustrating five decades, assessing their impact on growth, and evaluating competitiveness. Using a descriptive analysis, it reviews historical background, national plans, and the market trajectory, examining demand, supply, and macroeconomic performance. The chapter also addresses sector challenges, underscores sustainability initiatives, and concludes by outlining a path for a more sustainable tourism sector in Egypt.
