Transport transforms Egypt to international trade hub through development of different modes for making the most of its strategic geographic location. The current study describes the historical evolution of transport modes highlighting challenges and opportunities through time and investigates their impact of on economic growth using empirical analysis. To achieve the study objectives an ARDL-ECM approach employed for estimating four models: the first investigates the impact of maritime transport on economic growth which found positive significant impact at short run. The second model found that air freight has positive significant impact at short run and negative impact at long run proving the need of further development of air freight. The third model investigates the impact of air passenger which found positive significant impact at short run; finally, the fourth model found positive significant impact of railway cargo at both short and long run. The results confirm the importance of transport development for economic growth in Egypt.
